Istanbul's Grand Bazaar (Kapali Çarsi, or Covered Bazaar) is Turkey's largest covered market offering excellent shopping opportunities. Visitors can find beautiful Turkish carpets, glazed tiles and pottery, copper and brassware, apparel made of leather, cotton and wool, meerschaum pipes, alabaster bookends and ashtrays, and all sorts of other things.
Egyptian (Spice) Market is much smaller than the Grand Bazaar. The market has its own air for visitors interested in souvenirs and touristy stuff as well as food, spices, coffee, snacks.
Be advised to visit at least one of these markets when you tour Istanbul as this visit will be with you lifelong.
